Freak of Nature, Telekinesis

Chronicle which is number seven in the top ten movies of the year so far, is a movie about three High School boys that develop supper powers. Andrew (left), who is the youngest of the three and is not socially involved was a young man, a loner who's mother is dieing at home while his father is a disabled abusive alcoholic. Matt (far right) who is Andrew's cousin is known for being a goof off, smokes marajuana, and thinking that he is the coolest kid in school. Steven (middle) who is also Matt's friend, wants to be involved in politics so he runs for school president, was into sports, and enjoyed the company of everyone around him.
Matt talks Andrew into going to a party (rave) in the middle of no where, at an abandoned warehouse, where they end up finding a whole in the ground, go into it, and discover some sort of glowing rock that ends up giving them mind powers also known as telekinesis. As the boys practice with their powers they start off with throwing a baseball at eachother to see if they can stop it from hitting them.

As the boys are able to conquer doing telekinesis with some small things, they decided to go a little bit further. Matt and Steven decided to help Andrew feel more important by making him popular among other school children. They talked him into doing a talent show act in front of every child in the school. At first no one wanted him up there then he started doing tricks that just amazed everyone so much that he instantly became popular.

After realizing that they can do nearly anything and everything is when the pranks started. Andrew, because of his hard life at home had so much anger inside of him that it was raging to get out which caused him to be much stronger than the other two and ended up him being out of control. Andrew ends up killing Steven. He also ended up harming many others after the death of his mother. In the end, Matt may have been the one that ended up killing Andrew, but really it was his anger that killed him.
Critics are surprisingly happy with this movie. They give it between two to four stars. They say that this movie shows the dangers that could come if someone where to really have any type of powers. It is reported that 86% of critics have given Chronicle nothing but good reviews. Mostly because it is a freshly new movie.

In my opinion, Chronicle was a good movie for children to see, maybe a good family movie. Although there were a lot of good or even some funny parts in the movie, it kind of reminded me of the movie "Hancock" with Will Smith. I believe that children would be the only ones that would really remember this movie with the lessons that it provides. Children seem to pay more attention to movies like this because the humans have super powers and what child does not want those? The audience that Chronicle is targeting are of course children, and maybe some adults who want to be Peter Pan and never grow up.

What are they promoting or advertising to us?

"WOW, REALLY!"
Can you imaging driving down the road seeing a billboard like this. All the thoughts that would go through my head, starting with, "Are you serious!" I wouldn't know whether to laugh at this or try to take it seriously. Is it true? Does anyone really know this? If so, I would love to meet them. Maybe it should read, "After you read this you will crash (because of laughter), you will die (because you crashed), and you will meet God (because you died)." I was under the impression that billboards are for the purpose of advertising. Everyone has a right to what religion they want to practice, and I get that, but to broadcast it like that because you have money to do so is ridiculous in my eyes and in many others. There are many other ways to get people involved in your religion like maybe talking to them. So the question stands, what are you advertising? Are you advertising God, or are you advertising death?
"So True"

Ok, so while this billboard was obviously put up to remind you to be polite, someone has decided to major in writing. Although it is pretty funny, it is still rude and it is definitely not selling any type of product to me. This is probably more on the lines of something that you would say to someone that does nothing but piss you off.

"That's just wrong"
I'm extremely confused on what this billboard is truly trying to advertise. Is it promoting drinking and advertising to buy Jack Daniels?Or is it advertising that when you get drunk, you do stupid, horrible, disgusting things that just may make you want to chew your arm off? When I first saw this billboard online, I had to look twice at it just to make sure that I read it correctly. Now try driving down the road and doing the same thing. What a crash that would be!

"How Sweet Love Can Be"

Now this is much better. This is not only advertising but promoting as well. What person(s) in their right mind would not want to take themselves or their partner to the ocean, to walk hand in hand, feel the sand between your toes, walk in the shallow water, build a love castle, and write your names in it. Maybe at least dream about it. This billboard has got me reeled in all the way. I am sold.

"Does anyone?"

Although a little long and only a cartoon, I think that this billboard says it all.

                                                             CRITICS

Critics believe that most billboards do not serve any justice. That they are misrepresenting themselves and not helping promoting what it is that they are trying to promote or that they are misleading. They tend to ask questions like, "When you are driving down the road, can you really read what that billboard says way up in the air?" "Do you really think that product is going to work for you?" Critics also believe that billboards are the cause of most car wrecks, that people are too busy trying to read what is on the billboard rather than pay attention to what is in front of them on the road.

                                                                  MY OPINION

I think that the critics are right on with people pay more attention to what is on billboards rather than what is in front of them on the road. It is reported that in certain cities eighty percent of car wrecks are caused by people reading billboards instead of just driving down the road. It is a horrible shame that our country thinks that we need to make an extra buck by promoting things on boards instead of coming up with something else that will not take the lives of innocent people.

Sheryl's view on " Dexter"

Dexter is a bloodstain pattern analyst/serial killer that kills serial killers. ”Dexter” casts a deep sense of irony because he kills serial killers and because he uses his profession of catching serial killers to get away with killing serial killers. For every kill that Dexter commits, he will cut his victim with a scalpel and keeps a blood slide with a drop of his victim’s blood on it as a souvenir in a box and then puts it into his air conditioner. Dexter will then cut up his victim into several pieces, put the body parts into a black garbage bag, carry them onto his boat (A Slice of Life), and drop them in the middle of the ocean. He was a family man with two step children and a baby until his wife was murdered. His step children left to go live with their grandparents. Dexter was left to take care of his baby boy “Harrison”. The murder of his wife gave him a much stronger conviction to kill serial killers. As of right now, there are six wonderful seasons of Dexter with more to come.
People like Dexter because they are attracted to the methodical way he lives his life and handles complicated situations. People’s primal instincts attract them to Dexter and shows like it due to its violent nature, and their ability to limit it to a safe environment. With Dexter’s “Dark Passenger” (a coin fraise that is mentioned in almost every episode), how could someone not want to watch this exciting Showtime series. Who doesn’t want to get rid of all the people out there in the world that do nothing but violate us in some way or another! I enjoy watching Dexter because he has no remorse for killing someone that does harm, and as of right now, gets away with it. Of course everyone that either works with Dexter or is around him has no idea what or who he truly is, including his adoptive sister Debra Morgan.

There are people that do think that Dexter is a horrible show for anyone to watch because it suggests that murder could be accepted in society as long as society favors it. Whether the killings be committed by the government or a vigilante. Critics want "Dexter" to stay previewed on channels that you have to pay to watch and also not be shown on You Tube. They also think that it is wrong that they put children in the mix of all this with putting them into danger and putting them into adult situations. Some people also believe that no child under any circumstance should ever watch this Showtime series in fear that our children will go out and do what Dexter does.

                                                                     MY OPINION

I absolutely love to watch Dexter. He is my hero. I have every season sitting on my shelf at home awaiting for me to watch over and over again. In the real world there is no way of getting away with the things (murders) that Dexter does, so I like to visualize or fantasise myself in the scenes of the show, as bad as that sounds. Is it not what movies and shows are all about?  I do agree that shows like this should not be aired on regular TV, but it is also the job of the parents to know what it is that their children are watching and filter them out if need be. It is also our job as parents to let our children know that this does not happen in real life and if it does then they will be caught.
